We have been providing a Target Hardening service for Torus Housing, based in St Helens, since the start of 2025. We provide a home security assessment and upgrade service for people who have experienced domestic abuse. This service covers all those in need within the borough of St Helens plus all those residing in Torus housing across the North-West.
Referrals are sent to us from the Torus Safeguarding and Domestic Abuse Team.
Once all details are logged on our system, referred Clients are contacted within 24 hours and offered an appointment at the earliest opportunity. Home Security visits are always completed within 5 days unless the referred Client requires a later date.
We know we are working with vulnerable people and therefore all our personnel who come into contact either on the phone or in-person are fully trained and prepared.
As on all our contracts, Clients are given the name of our Engineer in advance and they have the option of having a friend, family member or support professional with them during the visit.
Our Engineer will initiate a conversation with the Client regarding their security concerns giving them the opportunity to mention anything relevant to the assessment. We look to establish risk scenarios and perpetrator threat so we can tailor the service to each Client.
We assess security and fit upgrades on the same initial visit to ensure that the referred Client feels safer in their own home from day one.
As on all target hardening/sanctuary contracts the emphasis is on providing security interventions that are tailored to each Client.
Monthly Reports detailing all aspects of service delivery are forwarded and then form the basis of Contract Review between Secure Horizon and Torus contract management personnel.
Security Upgrades available on this scheme include:
- Door Locks
- Window Locks
- Padlocks (Gates, Outhouses)
- Recording Devices (Video doorbells, cameras)
- Security Lighting
- Window Alarms
